Job summary

Target Housing Ltd in Doncaster is seeking a dedicated Housing Support Worker to help residents in temporary accommodation develop skills for independent living. You will assess referrals, move people into accommodation, and support with tenancy rights and responsibilities.

You’ll deliver person-centred plans, undertake risk assessments, coordinate multi-agency support, and assist with budgeting and welfare benefits. DBS checks apply; driving may be required.

Qualifications

• Understanding of supported housing principles, tenancy rights and responsibilities.
• GDPR/Data Protection and safeguarding adults.
• Awareness of Welfare Benefits System.
• Risk assessments and support planning experience.
• Awareness of issues facing vulnerable people (mental health, homelessness).
• Health & Safety in housing knowledge.
• IT literacy and using common software.
• Driver with access to own vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Assess eligible referrals and move individuals into Target accommodation.
• Ensure compliance with tenancy/licence agreements and rights/responsibilities.
• Develop person-centered support plans and risk assessments.
• Provide structured support visits and follow up.
• Support to report repairs and maintenance issues.
• Handle housing management tasks (rent/HB payments, void reporting, H&S checks).
• Coordinate multi-agency work and signpost to services.
• Support income maximisation and budgeting.
• Develop move-on plans and assist to obtain independent accommodation.

Main Purpose:

To support individuals within their temporary accommodation gain the necessary skills to move on to independent living.

Housing Support Worker Tasks

• Assessment of eligible referrals
• Moving individuals into Target accommodation
• Ensure compliance with tenancy/licence agreements & rights and responsibilities
• Develop a person-centered support plan and risk assessment
• Structured support visits
• Support to report repairs and maintenance issues
• Housing management tasks, (e.g void reporting, monitoring rent/HB payments, H & S checks)
• Multi-agency working & signposting to other agencies
• Maximising income & budgeting
• Move on plans & support to obtain independent accommodation

Person Specifications

• Understanding of supported housing principles, tenancy rights and responsibilities
• Understanding of GDPR/Data Protection Act and safeguarding adults
• Basic knowledge of the Welfare Benefits System.
• An understanding of risk assessments and support planning
  
• Awareness of the issues facing vulnerable people (e.g.mental health, disability, homelessness)
• Understanding of Health & Safety in housing
• Competence of using IT
• Car driver with use of own vehicle
