Job summary

Volunteer Centre in Leeds is seeking a Housing Support Worker to help people sustain tenancies, overcome barriers and build brighter futures within our Beacon / Somewhere Safe to Live Team.

You will support individuals to move into new homes, manage finances, attend appointments and develop confidence to live independently, working with landlords and partner agencies to ensure access to needed services and support for thriving in community life.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting individuals through challenging situations with positive engagement.
  • Ability to apply risk management in line with organisational policies and procedures.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building with partners and clients.
  • Valid UK driving licence or permission to drive in the UK.

Responsibilities

  • Support people to maintain their homes and overcome barriers.
  • Assist with budgeting, appointments, and developing independent living skills.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, landlords and partner agencies to provide seamless support.

As a Housing Support Worker, within our Beacon / Somewhere Safe to Live Team, you’ll play a vital part in helping people maintain their homes, overcome barriers and build brighter futures. From helping someone settle into a new tenancy to connecting them with specialist support, your work will have a real and lasting impact.

No two days are ever the same. One day you might be supporting someone to move into their new home, while the next, you’re helping them manage their finances, attend appointments or develop the confidence to live independently. You’ll work alongside colleagues, landlords and partner agencies to ensure people receive the support they need to thrive.

Who we’re looking for:
  • Experience supporting individuals through challenging situations, encouraging positive engagement and providing effective support during difficult times.
  • Ability to apply and promote risk management practices in line with organisational policies and procedures.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with a range of internal and external partners.
  • A valid UK driving licence (or one permitting driving in the UK) and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
