Job summary

Yolk Recruitment is seeking an experienced Housing Support Worker to join a well-established supported housing service in Cornwall on a temporary basis. You will manage a caseload of adults who may have experienced homelessness, substance misuse or mental health difficulties, providing practical and person-centred support to help residents move towards greater independence.

  • Complete needs and risk assessments.
  • Develop and review individual support plans.
  • Agree meaningful goals with residents and support outcomes.
  • Support tenancy management and sustaining accommodation.
  • Provide budgeting and money management support.
  • Assist with benefits applications including Universal Credit and PIP.
  • Coordinate with health and wellbeing services and other supports.
  • Maintain confidential records and case notes.
  • Engage with colleagues and external agencies for coordinated support.
  • Participate in on-call rota.

Job description

Temporary Housing Support Worker

Location: Cornwall

Contract: 2 - 5 months +

Hours: 37 per week.

Typically: Sunday 8am-6pm, Mon - Thurs 9am-5pm

Hourly rate: £12.71 - £13.45

On-call supplement: £105 per week when participating in the rota

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Housing Support Worker to join a well-established supported housing service in Cornwall on a temporary basis.

The service provides accommodation and support to adults who may have experienced homelessness, substance misuse and mild to moderate mental health difficulties, including anxiety and depression.

You will work as part of a supportive and established team, helping residents develop the skills, confidence and stability they need to move towards greater independence.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is empathetic, approachable and enjoys building positive relationships with people who may have complex needs.

You will manage a caseload of approximately 7-8 residents, providing practical and person-centred support.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Completing needs and risk assessments.
  • Developing and reviewing individual support plans.
  • Agreeing meaningful goals and outcomes with residents.
  • Supporting residents with tenancy management and sustaining their accommodation.
  • Providing budgeting and money management support.
  • Supporting residents with benefit applications and forms, including Universal Credit and PIP.
  • Helping residents access health, wellbeing and other support services.
  • Accompanying or transporting residents to appointments where required.
  • Supporting residents to develop independence and life skills.
  • Responding appropriately to safeguarding, risk and welfare concerns.
  • Maintaining accurate and confidential records and case notes.
  • Working closely with colleagues and external agencies to provide coordinated support.
  • Participating in the service's on-call rota.
About you

We are looking for someone who is empathetic, reliable and confident working with people who may have experienced significant challenges in their lives.

You will ideally have experience in one or more of the following:

  • Supported housing, homelessness services, mental health services
  • Experience completing support plans, risk assessments and case records.
  • Good knowledge of housing and tenancy-related issues.
  • Experience supporting people with benefits, budgeting or financial difficulties.
  • A driver with access to a car
  • Good IT and written communication skills.
  • Enhanced DBS
