Job summary

Niyaa People Ltd is recruiting a Housing Support Worker in Manchester for a large established housing charity. The role focuses on safeguarding, domestic abuse and complex needs for adults and children within a new service.

You will provide practical and emotional support, complete risk assessments and work with children’s services and agencies to promote tenancy sustainment. Experience in housing benefits is valued.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Support Worker or Complex Needs Worker.
• Strong background in domestic abuse and safeguarding.
• Experience supporting vulnerable adults and/or children.
• Confidence completing risk assessments, referrals and support assessments.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical and emotional support to adults and children with complex needs.
• Support individuals affected by domestic abuse and safeguarding concerns.
• Complete referrals, assessments and risk assessments.
• Assist with move-ins, inductions and ongoing assessments.
• Collaborate with Children’s Services, local authorities and partner agencies.
• Support residents with Housing Benefit and welfare issues.
• Carry out room and welfare checks and maintain records.
• Identify safeguarding concerns and respond appropriately.
• Promote independence, safety and tenancy sustainment.
• Participate in on-call rota for emergencies.

We are recruiting on behalf of alarge, established housing charity with services across the UK, who are expanding their provision inManchester.

They are looking for an experiencedComplex Needs Support Worker to join a new service supporting adults and children, with a particular focus ondomestic abuse, safeguarding and complex support needs.

This is a hands-on role for someone who is passionate about safeguarding and supporting vulnerable people, with the opportunity to be part of a new service and help make a real difference.

Key Responsibilities of a Housing Support Worker:

• Provide practical and emotional support to adults and children with complex needs.
• Support individuals affected bydomestic abuse and safeguarding concerns.
• Complete referrals, assessments andrisk assessments.
• Support withmove-ins, inductions and ongoing assessments.
• Work closely withChildren's Services, local authorities and partner agencies.
• Support residents withHousing Benefit and welfare-related matters.
• Carry out regularroom and welfare checks.
• Identify and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns.
• Maintain accurate case notes, records and support plans.
• Promote independence, safety and tenancy sustainment.
• Participate in theon-call rotafor emergency situations.

Candidate Requirements:

• Previous experience as aSupport Worker, Complex Needs Worker or similar.
• Strong background indomestic abuse and safeguarding.
• Experience supporting vulnerable adults and/or children.
• Confident completingrisk assessments, referrals and support assessments.
• Experience working withChildren's Services and other statutory agencies.
• Understanding of housing, tenancy sustainment andHousing Benefit.
• Good understanding of safeguarding and risk management.
• Level 2 qualification inHealth & Social Care, Supporting Adults/Children, Counselling, Domestic Abuse or a related fieldwould be desirable.
• Enhanced DBSor willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
• Full UK driving licence - company car and fuel card provided
• Professional, resilient and confident when dealing with complex situations.
