Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of individuals facing mental health challenges? We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Housing Support Worker to join our team in Newport on an ad-hoc/temporary basis, with the possibility of temp to perm opportunities.

About the Role:

As a Housing Support Worker, you will provide vital support to adults experiencing mental health issues and/or drug and alcohol misuse. Your role involves offering practical and emotional support to help clients secure and maintain stable housing, enhance their independence, and access necessary services. You will collaborate with other professionals to ensure clients receive comprehensive care and guidance.

Pay and Requirements:

• Pay: £13.68 per hour (inclusive of holidays)
• A full UK driving license is preferred but not essential

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide tailored housing support to individuals with complex needs, including mental health conditions and substance misuse.
• Assist clients in maintaining their tenancy and accessing community resources.
• Conduct risk assessments and create personalized support plans.
• Collaborate with external agencies such as mental health services, substance misuse teams, and housing providers.
• Support clients in developing life skills and building resilience.
• Ensure health and safety by using basic first aid skills, calling emergency services if needed, and evacuating in case of fire alarms.
• Maintain accurate and confidential records following policies and regulations.

Shift Patterns:

This role involves flexible shift patterns, including days, waking nights, and sleep-ins, to meet service needs.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

• Experience working with adults facing mental health challenges and/or substance misuse.
• Understanding of issues faced by vulnerable adults and the support they require.
• At least 6 months of experience in a social care setting.
• Current Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one.
• The right to work in the UK.
