Elmbridge Borough Council is seeking a motivated Housing Standards Officer to join the Housing Services Team in Esher. You will investigate complaints, carry out HHSRS inspections, and work with tenants, landlords and partner agencies to resolve issues, supporting enforcement and energy efficiency initiatives.

You will be based at the Civic Centre in Esher and carry out duties with a focus on improving living conditions and safeguarding residents across all housing tenures.

Competenze

• Hold a professional Qualification in Environmental Health, Housing, Construction, Surveying or a related discipline.
• Extensive experience in private sector housing enforcement and housing standards work.
• Experience working within a local authority regulatory environment.
• Strong knowledge of housing legislation, HHSRS and enforcement processes.
• Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
• Excellent organisational, communication and time management skills.
• Customer-focused and committed to delivering high-quality services for residents.

Mansioni

• Investigate complaints about housing conditions and undertake inspections using HHSRS.
• Work with tenants, landlords, managing agents and partner agencies to resolve housing issues.
• Support the Council's work on housing enforcement, HMO regulation, empty homes and energy efficiency initiatives.
