Elmbridge Borough Council is seeking a motivated Housing Standards Officer to join the Housing Services Team in Esher. You will investigate housing conditions, conduct inspections using HHSRS, and collaborate with tenants, landlords and partner agencies to resolve issues.

This role supports enforcement, energy efficiency, and high housing standards across all tenures. You will report to the Housing Standards Manager and Senior Housing Standards Officer, and be based at the Civic Centre in Esher.

Competenze

• Professional Qualification in Environmental Health or related discipline.
• Significant experience in private sector housing enforcement and housing standards work.
• Experience in a local authority regulatory environment.
• Knowledge of housing legislation, HHSRS and enforcement processes.
• Strong communication and time management skills.
• Customer-focused and collaborative approach.

Mansioni

• Investigate complaints about housing conditions and undertake inspections using HHSRS.
• Work with tenants, landlords and partners to resolve housing issues.
• Support enforcement actions, HMO regulation, energy efficiency initiatives.
• Contribute to delivery of housing standards objectives and improvements.
