Job summary

Derby City Council is seeking a Housing Standards Assistant to join the Housing Standards Team at Council House. This permanent, full-time role provides essential administrative support to help improve living conditions for private rented sector tenants.

You will handle and log enquiries from tenants, landlords and the public; prepare and maintain records and documentation; and support housing complaints. Strong Microsoft Office skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure are

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and digital record systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Knowledge of housing or environmental services is desirable.

What you’ll be doing
  • Providing high-quality administrative support to the Housing Standards Team
  • Handle and log enquiries from tenants, landlords, and the public
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records, correspondence and documentation
  • Support the process of housing complaints.

  • Be highly motivated and efficient in team administration
  • Have previous experience in an administrative or office support role
  • Possess excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Be confident in using Microsoft Office and digital record systems
  • Be able to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines under pressure
  • Having knowledge of housing or environmental services is desirable but not essential
