Job summary

South Gloucestershire Council is seeking a Housing Officer to manage a portfolio of quality private sector accommodation for homeless individuals and those at risk, while supporting tenants to sustain tenancies and achieve positive housing outcomes.

You will handle lettings, rents, repairs, inspections, and landlord liaison, ensuring tenancy documentation is completed accurately and timely. Regular tenant contact and signposting will be part of the role.

Qualifications

• Experience in housing management and delivering effective housing services.
• Experience supporting vulnerable people and diverse communities.
• Knowledge of landlord and tenant responsibilities and housing legislation.
• Strong communication and relationships with tenants, landlords and partners.
• Good problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of property management, including lettings, rents, repairs, inspections, and liaising with landlords.
• Maintain regular contact with tenants and signpost to services to sustain tenancies.
• Promote the service to prospective landlords to expand the portfolio.
• Collaborate with landlords and HomeChoice Service to meet housing needs.
• Complete tenancy agreements and associated documentation accurately and efficiently.
• Visit tenants at their homes to provide support and address issues.
