YMCA of the Cedar Rapids Metro Area is seeking a Housing Safety and Compliance Officer based in Reading or Gloucester (field-based). The role involves on-site inspections of residential properties to verify gas, electrical, fire safety, asbestos, and water system compliance, with travel across England.

You will ensure documents meet housing regulations (HHSRS), coordinate repairs with property teams, and generate detailed risk and compliance reports for the Health & Safety and Compliance

Qualificações

Please note this is a field based role however, the successful candidate will be expected to spend their induction period at our Head Office in North Shields.

Your main responsibilities include:

• Inspections & Audits: Conducting comprehensive on-site inspections to assess compliance and identify hazards related to gas, electricity, fire safety, asbestos, and water systems.
• Compliance Management: Ensuring property documents comply with housing regulations (such as HHSRS) and tracking certifications in our database systems.
• Repairs & Coordination: Working closely with property management teams to issue repair orders, follow up on remediation work, and conduct re-inspections.
• Reporting: Generating detailed risk and compliance reports, complete with photographs, for the Health & Safety and Compliance Manager.

• A full driving licence and access to your own transport covered for business insurance use.
• Solid understanding of building codes, safety regulations, and housing legislation regarding gas, electricity, and fire safety.
• Proficiency in conducting thorough residential inspections and keeping highly organised electronic records.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills to collaborate effectively with management, tenants, and partner organisations.
• Competency using a variety of software packages (including Word, Email, Advanced Excel, and databases).

It is desirable (but not essential) if you have knowledge of the work of supported accommodation providers and social housing quality frameworks.
