Job summary

YMCA North Tyneside is seeking a Housing Safety and Compliance Officer based in Reading or Gloucester (field based). The role involves ensuring residential properties meet safety standards and regulatory requirements, with induction at our North Shields head office.

You will conduct on-site inspections, manage compliance documentation (HHSRS), coordinate repairs, and generate risk reports. A full driving licence and willingness to travel across England are essential.

Qualifications

• Full driving licence and business-use vehicle.
• Understanding of building codes and safety regulations.
• Experience in residential inspections.
• Strong record-keeping and organisational skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder collaboration.
• Desirable knowledge of social housing frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Inspections & Audits: on-site inspections to assess compliance and hazards (gas, electricity, fire, asbestos, water).
• Compliance Management: ensure documents meet housing regs (HHSRS) and track certifications.
• Repairs & Coordination: issue repair orders, follow up on remediation, re-inspections.
• Reporting: generate risk and compliance reports with photos for the Health & Safety Manager.
