Job summary

Niyaa People Ltd. is seeking an experienced Housing Options Officer to join a customer-focused Homelessness and Housing Advice Service in Solihull.

This 13-week temporary assignment involves supporting individuals and families facing homelessness, delivering expert housing advice, and managing complex cases from contact to resolution. You will apply knowledge of homelessness legislation and make statutory decisions, with duties under the Housing Act and Homelessness Reduction Act.

Qualifications

• Experience making statutory homelessness decisions under Part VII of the Housing Act 1996.
• Strong knowledge of the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 including prevention and relief duties.
• Ability to assess eligibility, priority need and intentional homelessness.
• Experience managing complex homelessness cases.
• Excellent interviewing, communication and case management skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct homelessness interviews and detailed assessments of applicants' housing circumstances and eligibility.
• Manage complex homelessness cases from initial contact through to conclusion in line with statutory duties.
• Apply prevention and relief duties, including assessing threats of homelessness within 56 days.
• Develop personalised housing plans and determine relevant statutory duties.
• Provide face-to-face housing advice and practical support to vulnerable individuals and families.
• Maintain accurate case records and ensure timely casework completion.
