Job summary

Carrington West is seeking an experienced Housing Officer to join a local authority’s Tenancy Management team. You will manage a housing patch from sign‑up to termination, ensuring compliance with policies and delivering effective tenancy management services.

You will investigate breaches, support vulnerable residents and coordinate with partner agencies to resolve tenancy and neighbourhood issues. The role involves estate inspections, multi‑agency meetings and contributing to local priorities.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Housing Officer, Neighbourhood Housing Officer or Tenancy Management Officer within a local authority or housing association.
• Strong knowledge of tenancy management legislation, policies and procedures.
• Experience managing a housing patch, including estate inspections, tenancy enforcement and tenancy sustainment.
• Experience investigating anti-social behaviour, hate crime and tenancy breaches.
• Understanding safeguarding responsibilities and supporting vulnerable residents.
• Experience handling complex housing complaints and resolving tenancy-related disputes.
• Experience maintaining accurate case records and using housing management systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage a designated housing patch, overseeing tenancies from sign-up through to termination in accordance with relevant policies and procedures.
• Investigate and resolve tenancy breaches, including anti-social behaviour, hate crime and other tenancy-related issues.
• Conduct regular estate and property inspections, identifying and addressing issues affecting the safety and condition of the patch.
• Identify vulnerable tenants and those at risk of tenancy failure, coordinating appropriate support and interventions.
• Investigate and resolve complex tenancy management complaints, including enquiries from elected members and MPs.
• Work closely with internal teams, external agencies and support providers to resolve tenancy and neighbourhood issues.
• Organise and attend multi-agency meetings, case conferences and resident engagement activities.
• Support residents in identifying local priorities and developing initiatives to improve neighbourhoods and estates.
