Job summary

Wealden District Council is looking for a proactive housing officer to support tenancy management across the district. You will work with residents, contractors and partner agencies to let homes quickly and maintain high standards of service.

You will conduct sign-ups, tenancy visits, and estate inspections, while promoting tenant participation and ensuring compliance with housing legislation. A full driving licence and ability to travel are required.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out pre-void inspections and working with colleagues and contractors to ensure homes are re-let quickly and efficiently.
• Conduct tenancy sign-ups, helping new tenants understand their tenancy rights and responsibilities and supporting them to settle into their new home.
• Undertaking a range of tenancy visits, including introductory tenancy visits, and tenancy management inspections.
• Working with residents and partner agencies to create safer neighbourhoods, addressing anti-social behaviour, tenancy breaches and environmental concerns.
• Supporting and promoting tenant participation, ensuring residents have opportunities to influence services and shape their communities.
• Managing tenancy changes, mutual exchanges, successions and transfers.
• Identifying support needs and working with partner organisations to help sustain tenancies.
• Carrying out estate inspections and identifying opportunities to improve neighbourhoods and communal areas.
• Building positive relationships with residents, community groups and partner agencies.
