Job summary

West Northamptonshire Council is seeking a Temporary Accommodation Income Officer to support residents in temporary accommodation with welfare benefits, debt advice and income maximisation. You will manage a varied caseload, maintain accurate records and work with partners to maximise income recovery through housing benefits and accommodation charges.

The role requires empathy, excellent communication and a proactive approach to preventing homelessness.

Qualifications

• Experience of welfare benefits, temporary accommodation and debt advice services.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and advocacy skills.
• Ability to manage a demanding caseload with empathy.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist advice on welfare benefits, debt management and income maximisation for residents in temporary accommodation.
• Manage a varied caseload, maintain accurate records and support income recovery through housing-related benefits and accommodation charges.
• Work with colleagues, partner organisations and external agencies to prevent homelessness and improve service delivery.
