Job summary

Nottingham City Council is seeking a Housing Casework Supervisor to lead high-quality housing advice and homelessness prevention services. You will provide technical guidance, supervise colleagues, and oversee complex cases to ensure timely and person-centred support.

The role requires up-to-date homelessness legislation knowledge, strong safeguarding, and a commitment to equality and inclusion across all activities. Hybrid working arrangements are available and a DBS check is required.

Qualifications

  • Ability to supervise and support staff to deliver a customer-facing service with technical guidance on homelessness issues.

Responsibilities

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Hours: 37hours

Worker Type: Onsite Worker

Salary: Starting Salary is £36,363 (Level one) rising to £39,152 (Level four) ‘pro rata for part-time’ (pay award pending)

About the Role

We are looking for a confident and knowledgeable Housing Casework Supervisor to support the delivery of high-quality housing advice, homelessness prevention and statutory homelessness services. You will provide technical advice and casework supervision to colleagues, oversee complex housing cases, support decision- making under homelessness legislation, and help ensure citizens receive timely, effective and person-centred support. This is a key role in maintaining quality, managing risk, improving practice and working with partners to achieve positive housing outcomes for people in housing need or crisis.

About You
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Comprehensive and up to date working knowledge of Homelessness and associated legislation and able to advise colleagues and decide any duties owed to citizens for the Authority
  • Ability to supervise and support staff on a day to day basis to deliver a customer facing service, providing technical advice on a range of homelessness issues
  • Ability to be creative, to be able to identify problems and work to create solutions
  • Good working knowledge of safeguarding
  • Experience of dealing with legal challenge from advocates and customer complaints
  • An understanding of why it’s important to consider equality, diversity, and inclusion in all that we do.

This post is covered by the statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) (English Language Requirement for public sector workers) and therefore the ability to speak fluent English, is an essential requirement for the role.

A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required for this post

The role requires you to participate in the on call rota.
