Job description

Single Homeless Project

has a new opportunity for a Housing Advice Worker to join our team based in London. This is a part-time, permanent position working 18.75 hours, including some evenings and weekends. The starting salary is £27,413.19, rising incrementally to £30,239.20 per annum (pro rata).

We help single Londoners by preventing homelessness, providing support and accommodation, promoting wellbeing, enhancing opportunity, and advocating for change. We support people in crisis and assist those taking steps toward independence and employment, impacting 12,000 lives annually across all 32 boroughs.

About The Housing Advice Worker Role

We seek passionate individuals to join our dynamic team, where each day offers the chance to make a lasting impact. Our service partners with the Ministry of Justice and St Mungo's to deliver a pan-London Housing Advice and Interventions Service launched in June 2021. This role involves working within probation offices, collaborating with Probation Services to support clients in maintaining or accessing housing, which can be a pivotal point in their journey.

You will manage a caseload across specified boroughs, conducting assessments to identify housing, employment, and financial needs. Through tailored advice and support, you will help clients access services, build independence, and progress toward stability. Your work will directly influence people's lives, helping them overcome barriers and achieve secure futures.

Whether providing frontline support or navigating complex systems, your contributions will be highly valued and impactful.

Skills and Experience Required
  • Understanding of supported housing or floating support services, with knowledge of Housing legislation or relevant qualifications.
  • Experience managing complex situations involving vulnerable clients.
  • Ability to liaise effectively with service providers and agencies to improve client services.
  • Understanding of quality service principles, customer focus, and empowering service users.
  • Self-motivated, able to work under pressure, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks.
