Job summary

RBH Hospitality Management Ltd and The Milner York in York seek a Housekeeping Supervisor to lead the team, uphold high cleanliness standards and ensure a welcoming guest experience.

You will oversee room and public area cleanliness, coordinate schedules with Front Office and Maintenance, coach staff, and maintain stock and safety procedures. This is a hands-on leadership role within a four-star property that values guest satisfaction and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Lead and motivate the Housekeeping team to maintain high standards.
• Inspect bedrooms and public areas for cleanliness and presentation.
• Coordinate room cleaning schedules and workloads.
• Coach and develop team members with constructive feedback.
• Collaborate with Front Office and Maintenance to resolve issues quickly.
• Monitor supplies and equipment, manage stock efficiently.
• Ensure health and safety procedures and safe chemical handling.
• Respond to guest needs promptly while upholding guest experience.
• Support Head Housekeeper to ensure productivity and standards.
• Be hands-on and present on the floor as needed.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A HOUSEKEEPING SUPERVISOR AT THE MILNER YORK

What you’ll be doing…

Leading by example: Support and motivate the Housekeeping team, creating a positive working environment where colleagues feel supported and take pride in their work.

Maintaining high standards: Carry out bedroom and public-area inspections, ensuring cleanliness, presentation and guest-ready standards are consistently achieved.

Supporting daily operations: Help coordinate room cleaning schedules and workloads to ensure rooms are ready on time and operational priorities are met.

Coaching and developing colleagues: Train, guide and support team members, providing constructive feedback and helping colleagues build their skills and confidence.

Working with other departments: Communicate closely with Front Office, Maintenance and other teams to manage room status, report defects and resolve issues quickly.

Managing supplies and equipment: Help monitor housekeeping stock, linen, cleaning products and equipment, ensuring resources are used effectively.

Following procedures: Ensure the team follows health and safety requirements, safe chemical handling, cleaning procedures and hotel standards.

Responding to guest needs: Help resolve housekeeping-related requests and concerns promptly and professionally, always keeping the guest experience at the heart of what you do.

Supporting the Head Housekeeper: Assist with the smooth running of the department, helping maintain productivity, consistency and high standards across the hotel.

Being hands‑on: Be ready to support the team on the floor whenever needed. This is a practical, visible leadership role where your presence makes a difference.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

We’re looking for someone who is passionate about housekeeping and understands that the smallest details can make the biggest difference.

You’ll bring:

Previous housekeeping experience, ideally within a hotel environment, with experience supervising or supporting a team.

A keen eye for detail and a commitment to exceptional cleanliness and presentation standards.

Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate colleagues, lead by example and support a positive team culture.

Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks in a busy hotel environment.

Clear communication skills and the confidence to work with colleagues across different departments.

A proactive, can‑do attitude and the flexibility to adapt to changing operational needs.

A practical approach to problem‑solving and the confidence to address standards or performance concerns professionally.

An understanding of health and safety and the importance of following safe working practices.

A genuine passion for hospitality and making every guest feel welcome.
