Job summary

RBH Hospitality Management Ltd in York seeks a Maintenance Assistant for The Milner York. You will keep our hotel spaces, facilities and back-of-house areas clean, safe and fully operational to deliver the best guest experience.

You will perform reactive repairs for guest bedrooms and services, follow safety procedures, use COSHH-compliant practices, and coordinate with teams to minimise disruption while maintaining high standards.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in maintenance within hospitality or similar settings.
• Proven expertise in HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Ability to multitask and respond quickly to urgent issues.
• Commitment to safety, hygiene and guest comfort in a live environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform reactive and preventive maintenance to guest spaces and back-of-house areas.
• Carry out repairs affecting guest bedrooms and services with urgency and safety.
• Operate and store tools and materials safely in compliance with COSHH.
• Maintain high operational standards with minimal disruption to guests.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT AT OUR HOTEL

Maintaining our hotel’s high standards, ensuring every guest space, facility, and behind-the-scenes area operates flawlessly and looks pristine

Carry out short term (reactive) maintenance work e.g. repairs affecting guest bedrooms and services as a matter of urgency while adhering to all safety procedures and causing minimum disruption to guests.

Use, operate and store all tools, equipment and materials safely and securely to comply with statutory regulations e.g. COSHH

Maintain operational standards to the highest possible level in respect of service, hygiene, health and safety and ensure that there is minimal wastage

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

• Solid experience in a maintenance role, ideally within hospitality or a similar setting
• Expertise in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general building maintenance, with a proactive approach to problem-solving
• Organisational and multitasking abilities to juggle a range of responsibilities and respond quickly to urgent issues
• Flexibility to respond to urgent repairs, including availability for occasional evenings, weekends, and on-call duties
• A passion for maintaining a safe, well-functioning environment that enhances the guest experience
