Job summary

Meadowvale Care Home in Bathgate is seeking a Housekeeping Assistant to maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment, supporting laundry services and resident comfort.

You will clean residents' rooms, bathrooms and communal areas, handle laundry with care, follow infection control procedures and work with the team to uphold high hygiene standards and dignity for residents.

Contract is 35 hours per week at £12.71 per hour; benefits include PVG, pension, uniform, and 5.6 weeks holiday.

Qualifications

• Positive and reliable approach.
• Good attention to detail and organisation.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication skills.
• Understanding of hygiene and infection control is beneficial.
• Previous experience is welcomed but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Clean residents' rooms, bathrooms and communal areas to a high standard of hygiene and presentation.
• Support laundry duties including washing, drying, ironing and returning clothing with clear labelling.
• Follow infection control, health and safety and housekeeping procedures to carry out tasks safely and efficiently.

Meadowvale Care Home is a purpose built care home located in Bathgate, West Lothian, providing Residential, Nursing, Dementia and Respite care for up to 52 residents. With an experienced team and a strong focus on person centred care, the home offers a supportive and well established environment where team members can feel valued and confident in their role.

Housekeeping Assistant Contract

• £12.71 per hour
• Contracted to 35 hours per week
• Paid PVG, pension, uniform provided
• 5.6 weeks annual leave (based on a full time contract)

Role Overview

As Housekeeping Assistant, you will play a key role in maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming environment while also supporting laundry services. This is a varied, hands on role where your attention to detail and high standards will directly impact comfort, dignity and daily wellbeing.

You will be responsible for cleaning residents’ rooms, bathrooms and communal areas, ensuring all spaces are maintained to a high standard of hygiene and presentation. Alongside this, you will support laundry duties including washing, drying, ironing and returning clothing correctly, ensuring all items are clearly labelled and handled with care.

Working closely with the wider team, you will follow infection control, health and safety and housekeeping procedures, ensuring all tasks are carried out safely and efficiently. Your role will contribute to a well organised and comfortable environment where individuals feel respected and supported.
