Job summary

Silverleigh Care Home in Axminster is seeking a Housekeeping Assistant to maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment and support laundry services. You will clean residents’ rooms, bathrooms and communal areas, ensuring high hygiene standards, while handling laundry with care and accuracy.

The role requires attention to detail, reliability and the ability to work both independently and within a team; infection control knowledge is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Clean residents’ rooms, bathrooms and communal areas to high hygiene standards.

• Follow infection control, health and safety and housekeeping procedures to ensure safe and efficient tasks.
• Work alternate weekends as required.

Silverleigh is a beautiful care home, situated at the heart of a thriving community in a quiet street in the centre of Axminster, Devon. Silverleigh is registered for 65 residents.

Housekeeping Assistant Contract

• £12.71 per hour
• Contracted to 25-30 hours per week
• Paid DBS, pension, uniform provided
• 5.6 weeks annual leave (based on a full time contract)

Role Overview

As Housekeeping Assistant, you will play a key role in maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming environment while also supporting laundry services. This is a varied, hands on role where your attention to detail and high standards will directly impact comfort, dignity and daily wellbeing.

You will be responsible for cleaning residents’ rooms, bathrooms and communal areas, ensuring all spaces are maintained to a high standard of hygiene and presentation. Alongside this, you will support laundry duties including washing, drying, ironing and returning clothing correctly, ensuring all items are clearly labelled and handled with care.

Working closely with the wider team, you will follow infection control, health and safety and housekeeping procedures, ensuring all tasks are carried out safely and efficiently. Your role will contribute to a well organised and comfortable environment where individuals feel respected and supported.

The successful candidate will be required to work alternate weekends.
