Job summary

Avon Search is hiring a Housekeeper for a luxurious residential care home in Dawlish, South Devon. The role is 18 hours per week across 3 x 6-hour shifts (9:00am – 3:00pm) at £12.75 per hour plus paid breaks.

You will help maintain a clean, welcoming environment for residents and staff in a seven-acre country house setting near Torquay and Exeter. The home values dignity and personalised care, offering a warm, family-run atmosphere with strong staff retention.

Qualifications

• Previous housekeeping, cleaning or domestic experience is desirable.
• Experience within a care home, hotel or similar environment would be advantageous.
• Reliable, hardworking and conscientious.
• Caring, respectful and considerate towards residents.

Responsibilities

• Clean residents' bedrooms and communal areas to a high standard.
• Maintain cleanliness throughout the home.
• Clean bathrooms, corridors, lounges, dining areas and other shared spaces.
• Change bedding and maintain residents' rooms as required.
• Ensure cleaning supplies and equipment are used safely and appropriately.
• Follow infection prevention and control procedures.
• Report maintenance issues to the appropriate staff member.
• Work respectfully around residents and support a warm, homely environment.
• Collaborate with the care and housekeeping team.

The Role

As a Housekeeper, you will play an important role in maintaining a clean, comfortable and welcoming environment for residents, visitors and staff.

You will work as part of the wider team to ensure the home is maintained to a high standard, helping to create a pleasant and homely environment for residents to enjoy.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Cleaning residents' bedrooms and communal areas to a high standard
• Maintaining cleanliness throughout the home
• Cleaning bathrooms, corridors, lounges, dining areas and other shared spaces
• Changing bedding and maintaining residents' rooms as required
• Ensuring cleaning supplies and equipment are used safely and appropriately
• Following appropriate infection prevention and control procedures
• Reporting any maintenance issues or concerns to the appropriate member of staff
• Working respectfully around residents and taking care not to disturb their comfort and routine
• Supporting a warm, welcoming and homely environment
• Working closely with the care and wider housekeeping team

9:00am – 3:00pm

About You

• Previous housekeeping, cleaning or domestic experience is desirable
• Experience within a care home, hotel or similar environment would be advantageous
