Job summary

Avon Search is seeking a dedicated Housekeeper for a luxury residential care home in Dawlish, South Devon. The role involves maintaining a clean, welcoming environment for residents, visitors and staff within a seven-acre country house setting.

Hours are 9:00am–3:00pm, 3×6-hour shifts, totaling 18 hours per week, at £12.75 per hour plus paid breaks. Prior housekeeping or care-home experience is desirable to support a high-quality, person-centred environment.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning residents' bedrooms and communal areas to a high standard.
• Maintaining cleanliness throughout the home.
• Cleaning bathrooms, corridors, lounges, dining areas and other shared spaces.
• Changing bedding and maintaining residents' rooms as required.
• Following infection prevention and control procedures.
• Reporting maintenance issues or concerns to the appropriate staff member.
• Working closely with the care and housekeeping team to maintain high standards.

The Role

As a Housekeeper, you will play an important role in maintaining a clean, comfortable and welcoming environment for residents, visitors and staff.

You will work as part of the wider team to ensure the home is maintained to a high standard, helping to create a pleasant and homely environment for residents to enjoy.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Cleaning residents' bedrooms and communal areas to a high standard
• Maintaining cleanliness throughout the home
• Cleaning bathrooms, corridors, lounges, dining areas and other shared spaces
• Changing bedding and maintaining residents' rooms as required
• Ensuring cleaning supplies and equipment are used safely and appropriately
• Following appropriate infection prevention and control procedures
• Reporting any maintenance issues or concerns to the appropriate member of staff
• Working respectfully around residents and taking care not to disturb their comfort and routine
• Supporting a warm, welcoming and homely environment
• Working closely with the care and wider housekeeping team
• Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and presentation at all times

Working Hours

18 Hours per Week
3 x 6-Hour Shifts
9:00am – 3:00pm
£12.75 per hour + Paid Breaks

About You

• Previous housekeeping, cleaning or domestic experience is desirable
• Experience within a care home, hotel or similar environment would be advantageous
• Reliable, hardworking and conscientious
• Takes pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness
• Caring, respectful and considerate towards elderly residents
• Good attention to detail
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
• Organised and able to manage daily cleaning responsibilities effectively
• Committed to maintaining a safe, clean and welcoming environment
