Job Title: Housekeeper

Location: Gradwell Retirement Village, South Chailey, Lewes

Contract Type: Zero hours contract (as and when work arises, covering sickness and holidays)

Working Hours: 08:30 - 14:30 on Thursday and Friday

Job Description:

As a Housekeeper at our retirement village, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the cleanliness and tidiness of our residents' homes and communal areas.

Responsibilities:

• Performing regular cleaning tasks in residents' apartments, including dusting, vacuuming, mopping, and sanitizing surfaces.
• Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and service.
• Keeping communal areas such as lounges, dining areas, and hallways clean and presentable.
• Fostering and maintaining good relationships with residents.
• Reporting any faulty or damaged equipment, laundry, or machinery to the Housekeeping Supervisor.
• Undertaking washing and ironing of bedding, table linen, towels, and garments, following all instructions.
• Upholding high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the village.
• Using the correct cleaning products and equipment as instructed by the manufacturers.
• Ensuring a safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
• Complying with all health and safety legislation and policies.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Previous experience in housekeeping, preferably in residential or hospitality settings.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and efficiently.
• Excellent communication skills and a friendly, compassionate demeanour.
• Sensitivity to the needs of older adults.
• Willingness to undergo background checks and training.
