Job description

Gradwell Retirement Village based in South Chailey, Lewes, is on the lookout for a Housekeeper to work a zero hour contract - as and when work arises. Covering sickness and holidays - 08:30 - 14:30 Thursday and Friday.

As a Housekeeper at our retirement village, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the cleanliness and tidiness of our residents' homes and communal areas.

Your responsibilities will include:

1. Performing regular cleaning tasks in residents' apartments, including dusting, vacuuming, mopping, and sanitizing surfaces.
2. Providing the highest standards of cleanliness and service.
3. Keeping communal areas such as lounges, dining areas, and hallways clean and presentable.
4. Fostering and maintaining good relationships with the Residents.
5. Reporting any faulty or damaged equipment, laundry, or machinery to the Housekeeping Supervisor.
6. Undertaking the washing and ironing of bedding, table linen, towels, and garments as instructed, ensuring that all washing and ironing instructions are adhered to.
7. Upholding high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the village.
8. Using the correct cleaning products and equipment/appliances as instructed by the manufacturers.
9. Ensuring the provision of a safe environment for Residents, staff, and visitors.
10. Complying with all legislative requirements and local and Companywide policies and procedures relating to Health and Safety at Work.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Previous experience in housekeeping, preferably in a residential or hospitality setting.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently and independently.
• Excellent communication skills and a friendly, compassionate demeanour.
• Sensitivity to the needs and preferences of older adults.
• Willingness to undergo background checks and relevant training.
