Job description

Gradwell Retirement Village based in South Chailey, Lewes, is on the lookout for a Housekeeper to work a zero hour contract - as and when work arises. Covering sickness and holidays - 08:30 - 14:30 Thursday and Friday.

As a Housekeeper at our retirement village, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the cleanliness and tidiness of our residents' homes and communal areas.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Performing regular cleaning tasks in residents' apartments, including dusting, vacuuming, mopping, and sanitizing surfaces
• Providing the highest standards of cleanliness and service
• Keeping communal areas such as lounges, dining areas, and hallways clean and presentable
• Fostering and maintaining good relationships with the Residents
• Reporting any faulty or damaged equipment, laundry, or machinery to the Housekeeping Supervisor
• Washing and ironing of bedding, table linen, towels, and garments as instructed, ensuring that all washing and ironing instructions are adhered to
• Upholding high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the village
• Using the correct cleaning products and equipment/appliances as instructed by the manufacturers
• Ensuring the provision of a safe environment for Residents, staff, and visitors
• Complying with all legislative requirements and local and Companywide policies and procedures relating to Health and Safety at Work

Qualifications and Skills:

• Previous experience in housekeeping, preferably in a residential or hospitality setting
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently and independently
• Excellent communication skills and a friendly, compassionate demeanor
• Sensitivity to the needs and preferences of older adults
• Willingness to undergo background checks and relevant training
