Job summary

County Hotel is seeking an overnight porter to warmly welcome guests arriving late, manage front-of-house duties, and support breakfast and meeting room setup. You will work independently on night shifts and help maintain a safe, comfortable environment for all guests.

The role requires a proactive attitude, strong communication, and the ability to work under pressure. DBS checks are part of recruitment, and the team values reliability and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Check in late arrivals and walk-ins.

• Assist in fire evacuations and safety procedures.
• Answer phone inquiries and handle guest complaints to ensure a positive stay.

Job description

This is an overnight position, with shifts typically ranging from 11pm to 7am (depending on the site). Successful applicants will be required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check as part of the recruitment process.

WHAT YOU'LL DO IN THIS ROLE:

• Be the first point of contact when checking in late arrivals and walk-ins.
• Ensure a warm, friendly and genuine welcome to all guests.
• The role is varied and, depending on your site, may include: cleaning tasks within the front of house, external and breakfast areas, setting up the meeting room(s) and breakfast for the next day
• You'll ensure guest and business safety and security is top priority at all times.
• In the event of a fire, evacuating all guests and team from the business safely and quickly
• Answer telephone enquiries and deal with guest complaints to ensure everyone enjoys their stay.
