Job summary
The Newman in London’s Fitzrovia is seeking a hands-on Shift Engineer to join our Engineering team. You will maintain hotel operations, from guest-room maintenance to building systems, ensuring safety and high standards for our guests.
Reporting to the Chief Engineer, you will perform planned and reactive maintenance, diagnose faults, and support health and safety, with a 12-hour shift pattern and opportunities for career development within a luxury property.
Qualifications
- 2-3 years hotel engineering or building maintenance experience.
- Experience in high-end hotel environments is preferred.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities with a guest-focused approach.
Responsibilities
- Carry out planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance across the hotel.
- Diagnose and resolve faults across HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical systems.
- Respond to guest and operational maintenance requests, minimising disruption.
- Complete scheduled PPMs, inspections, compliance checks, and maintenance records.
- Support general building fabric maintenance including minor repairs and carpentry.
- Collaborate with hotel departments and external contractors to resolve issues.
