Job summary

Colchester Institute is seeking a part-time Technician for the Hospitality team to support curriculum delivery in Kitchens and Restaurant. You will ensure safe operational state and prepare class materials while managing stock to keep courses running smoothly.

The role requires practical kitchen/catering experience, teamwork, and knowledge of Health & Safety at Work, with qualifications at Level 2 or higher and English/Maths GCSEs. ILT skills are advantageous.

Qualifications

• Education to level 2+ or equivalent in a relevant subject.
• Level 2 English and Maths GCSE (4+ / C or above) or equivalent.
• Desirable: Level 3+ qualification in relevant subject area or equivalent.
• Practical industrial kitchen/catering experience.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Awareness of Health & Safety at Work.
• Experience using ILT skills.

Responsibilities

• Supporting teachers and students with the curriculum.
• Preparing all relevant materials.
• Maintaining all Kitchens equipment and reporting to the technician supervisor.
• Adhering to Health and Safety Regulations.
• Keeping stock at a reasonable level and reordering from suppliers.
• Maintaining and cleaning kitchens.
