Job summary

Morgan Philips Group represents a public sector client in Scotland seeking a Mechanical Building Services Technician on a long-term contract. The role involves delivering mechanical maintenance, contract administration, and compliance oversight across a public property portfolio, including water hygiene and Legionella control.

Hybrid working is available with on-site attendance as required. The post requires CDM and asbestos regulation knowledge, plus experience with asset management and budget

Qualifications

• HNC/HND or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
• Experience delivering mechanical projects and maintenance contracts.
• Contract administration experience.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation (CDM and asbestos).
• Significant knowledge of water hygiene/Legionella control.
• Experience using Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and manage mechanical maintenance and asset sustainability projects.

• Undertake site surveys, condition surveys, audits, and asset management activities.

• Participate in an out-of-hours emergency rota.

Job description

I am currently representing a public sector organisation who are seeking a Mechanical Building Services Technician to join the team on a long-term contract. This awarding winning local authority serves Scotland’s second largest mainland council area, and 23 islands.

Main Responsibilities

• Deliver and manage mechanical maintenance and asset sustainability projects.
• Act as Contract Administrator for allocated projects and maintenance programmes.
• Oversee contractors, compliance activities, and statutory inspections.
• Support mechanical compliance activities including:
  • Water hygiene and Legionella control
  • Gas safety
  • Pool plant maintenance
• Undertake site surveys, condition surveys, audits, and asset management activities.
• Manage project budgets and monitor expenditure.
• Provide technical advice to clients and support emergency situations.
• Participate in an out-of-hours emergency rota.

Essential Requirements

• HNC/HND in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
• Experience delivering mechanical projects and maintenance contracts.
• Contract administration experience.
• Strong knowledge of health & safety legislation, including CDM Regulations and asbestos regulations.
• Significant knowledge of water hygiene/Legionella control.
• Experience using Microsoft Office.

Desirable Requirements

• NEBOSH qualification.
• Relevant mechanical trade qualification or professional membership (e.g. CIBSE).
• Experience within a large public-sector property portfolio, preferably local government.
• Experience using property asset management systems
