Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join the Estates team across Leverndale & Dykebar Hospitals. The role covers reactive and planned maintenance, with cross-trade duties and training responsibilities for apprentices.

Applicants should be time-served mechanical engineers with post-apprenticeship experience and aiming for HNC level. Location is hospital-based with full-time hours (36 per week) on dayshifts, supporting a wide range of building

Qualifications

• Time-served mechanical engineer with post-apprenticeship experience.
• Qualified to HNC level or working towards it; SVQ/HND or equivalent.
• Training in CPD, health and safety, and electrical systems as required.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe environment for clinical care delivery.
• Carry out planned preventive maintenance and reactive tasks.
• Install, commission and service building services equipment.
• Interpret manuals and wiring diagrams for plant and equipment.
• Utilise BMS to monitor conditions and log data.
• Respond to breakdowns and implement corrective actions.
• Involve in training apprentices and trainees where needed.
• Ensure compliance with Electricity at Work Regulations and BS 7671.
