Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced Electrical Craftsperson to join the Estates Team at Bedford Hospital. The role covers preventative and reactive maintenance across building services and equipment, with on‑call duties and overtime as required.

Applicants should have an electrical qualification, NHS experience is valued, and must reside within 30 minutes of Bedford site due to on‑call commitments.

Competenze

• NVQ 3 / City & Guilds or equivalent in electrical discipline.
• 17th or 18th Edition electrical installations.
• Proven experience in a service or maintenance role.
• Experience of lone working.
• Experience of working within a team.
• Experience in the maintenance of healthcare building services and equipment.
• Experience of on‑call working.
• Good awareness of health and safety legislation and working to safe systems of work.
• In-depth working knowledge of building services engineering.
• Knowledge of fire alarm systems / BMS systems / standby generators.

Mansioni

• Identify, diagnose and repair faults, and carry out general planned maintenance on electrical services, plant and equipment.
• Undertake both reactive and planned maintenance of a more complex nature within the building engineering services relevant to the post holder’s core electrical skill.
• Complete all mandatory training as required.
• Carry out installations, commissioning and testing of new work associated with the core electrical discipline, and support team members when tasks involve other trades.
• Liaise with clinical staff to coordinate equipment and plant shutdowns and to arrange maintenance activities.
