Job summary

The Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Facilities Services cleaner to provide general environmental cleaning on wards, toilets, bathrooms and sluice rooms, with daily and weekly cleaning of patient equipment. You will help maintain a hygienic environment for patients, staff and visitors, and support infection control policies.

Responsibilities

• The main elements of the role are ensuring the delivery of general environmental cleaning on the wards including responsibility for the cleaning of all sanitary areas such as toilets, bathrooms, showers and sluice rooms.
• Daily and weekly cleaning of patient equipment.
• To replenish hand towels, toilet paper and hand soap supplies as required in order to maintain high standards of infection control.
• Emptying, cleaning and relining waste bins with appropriate coloured liner.
• To vacuum clean all carpeted floor surfaces and to static and damp mop all hard floor surfaces to ensure all areas are free from dust, dirt and grit.
• To clean and dry sanitary areas including WC's, wash hand basins, baths, showers, sinks and sluices (if present in work area).
• To collect and deliver mail
• Deliver/Replenish gas cylinders as required.
• Distribution of linen to wards and associated areas and other laundry duties as required, including the operation of washing machines and dryers and the treatment/disposal of dirty laundry.
• Assist with the unloading of supplies and distribution to departments.
• Support the Facilities Services Supervisor with routine administrative tasks and record keeping.
• Assist with stock ordering and monitoring stock levels to ensure supplies are available.
• Participate in routine stock takes and report shortages or discrepancies.
• Act as a day-to-day point of contact for Facilities Services Assistants whilst on shift, providing guidance and relaying information from supervisors where required.
• Escalate operational issues, staffing concerns, maintenance issues or service disruptions to the Facilities Services Supervisor.
• Assist with the completion and distribution of routine paperwork and departmental documentation.
• Provide support with service audits, checks and monitoring activities as requested
