Job summary

ST DAVID'S HOSPICE is seeking a Kitchen Assistant in St Davids to join the catering team in providing nutritious meals for patients, staff, volunteers and visitors. You will support cooks, handle basic food prep, and help maintain high hygiene standards in a hospital kitchen.

The role requires flexibility to cover shifts, good communication, and the ability to work well in a team as well as independently. Training and a supportive environment are offered.

Qualifications

• A relevant educational background is required.
• Flexibility to work shifts as needed to meet service demands.
• Ability to maintain high hygiene and safety standards.
• Ability to work with kitchen cleaning products and follow safe practices.
• Previous experience in a professional kitchen, catering, healthcare or hospice setting is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Support Cooks with the preparation and service of meals.
• Ensure dietary requirements are met and food is prepared safely.
• Assist with catering for events and functions as required.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organisation in the kitchen.
• Wash dishes and keep work areas clean and tidy.
• Follow food hygiene, HACCP, COSHH, health and safety, and infection control procedures.
