Job summary

Queensway Hospital in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to join our hospital-based catering team. You will help prepare meals, ensure hygiene, and support the kitchen staff throughout the day.

You will assist with meal preparation, wash and tidy, and work with the MDT to provide nutritious, well-presented food for patients and staff while maintaining waste disposal standards.

Qualifications

• Basic food hygiene certificate is required.
• Good communication skills are desirable.
• Experience in working in a kitchen is essential.
• Experience in working in a hospital is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide high quality, well prepared and presented food to patients and staff as directed.
• Tidy the kitchen and assist the cook throughout the day.
• Work collaboratively with the Ellern Mede Ridgeway team.
• Maintain high catering standards with nutritious, visually appealing meals.
• Assist in meal preparation and snacks as directed by catering or nursing staff.
• Wash cutlery and dishes, tidy the kitchen, replace bins and dispose of waste correctly.
