Job summary

Rotherham Hospice is looking for a dedicated Housekeeper to join our team at The Rotherham Hospice. You will create a clean, safe, and welcoming environment that directly supports patient comfort and dignity.

Reporting to the Housekeeping Manager, you will follow established cleaning protocols, handle laundry, waste, and supplies, and work across patient areas and support spaces to maintain high standards of hygiene.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in housekeeping or cleaning roles, ideally in healthcare or hospitality.
• Knowledge of cleaning techniques, products and equipment used in a healthcare environment is advantageous.
• Ability to prioritise tasks, manage time effectively, and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong attention to detail, thoroughness and reliability in performing cleaning tasks.

Responsibilities

• Room Cleaning and Maintenance: Clean and sanitize patient rooms, bathrooms, communal areas, and office spaces according to cleaning protocols.
• Linen and Laundry Services: Collect, sort and launder linens, towels and bedding; monitor inventory and replenish as needed.
• Waste Management: Dispose of waste and recyclables following policies and procedures.
• Infection Control Practices: Follow hand hygiene and PPE guidelines to prevent infections.
• Assistance with Special Projects: Help with deep cleaning and seasonal cleaning tasks as needed.
• Equipment Maintenance: Operate and maintain vacuum cleaners, floor scrubbers and other cleaning tools.
• Safety and Security: Report issues and follow safety protocols to maintain a safe workplace.
