Job summary

Rotherham Hospice Ltd is seeking a Maintenance Officer to oversee maintenance of the hospice building, grounds and shops. The role reports to the Head of Facilities and covers a 40-hour rota with weekend work on a 1-in-3 basis.

Salary range £28,267–£34,548 per annum; permanent contract. The role includes responsibilities for safety, repairs, and upkeep essential for high-quality care delivery.

Qualifications

• Experience in maintenance or building operations.
• Knowledge of basic maintenance techniques including plumbing, electrical, carpentry and painting.
• Ability to operate maintenance tools safely and effectively.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Building Maintenance: conduct routine tasks, repairs, inspections and preventive maintenance.
• Grounds Maintenance: maintain exterior grounds and clear debris during adverse weather.
• Hospice Shop Maintenance: repair fixtures and equipment, assist with renovations for shop upkeep.
• Health and Safety Compliance: follow regulations and report hazards to Head of Facilities.
• Emergency Response: handle urgent maintenance tasks outside normal hours if needed.
• Documentation and Reporting: keep records of tasks, inspections and expenditures.
