Job summary

Rotherham Hospice is seeking a skilled Maintenance Officer to join our facilities team. The role involves hands-on building and grounds maintenance, upkeep of hospice shops, and ensuring safety across the site.

You will report to the Head of Facilities and work a 40-hour rota, including weekend coverage, to support patient care and campus operations. Essential experience includes building operations and knowledge of basic maintenance techniques across plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and

Qualifications

Previous experience in maintenance, building operations, or a related field is preferred.
Knowledge of basic maintenance techniques and repairs, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting.
Ability to operate maintenance tools and equipment safely and effectively.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Valid driver’s license
Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

Build and maintain the hospice building to ensure safety and functionality.
Perform repairs to plumbing, electrical, heating, and ventilation systems as needed.
Maintain exterior grounds and keep walkways, entrances, and car parks clear.
Maintain the hospice shops, fixtures, fittings, and equipment; assist with minor renovations.
Adhere to health and safety regulations and report hazards promptly.
Respond to emergency maintenance requests outside regular hours and minimise disruption.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and report to Head of Facilities.
