Job summary

Compass Associates are recruiting a Registered Home Manager for an elderly nursing home in Southeast London. The role requires clinical leadership to manage complex resident needs, including dementia and mental health, while building relationships with commissioners and NHS services.

You will lead a multidisciplinary team, drive occupancy, and ensure high standards of care within a compliant governance framework.

Qualifications

The Opportunity

Compass Associates are exclusively working with a growing, premium care provider who are expanding their presence into the South of England.

Following a recent acquisition, they are looking to appoint an experienced Home Manager to lead one of their nursing homes and play an important role in establishing the organisation's presence in the region.

The home supports individuals with complex care, dementia and mental health needs, making this an opportunity for an experienced clinical leader who is comfortable managing a complex resident population and working closely with a range of external stakeholders.

The successful Home Manager will have overall responsibility for the operational, clinical and commercial performance of the home, while leading and developing a multidisciplinary team and maintaining consistently high standards of care.

The Role

As Home Manager, you will provide visible and hands-on leadership across the service, including:

• Taking overall responsibility for the day-to-day management and performance of the nursing home.
• Leading, motivating and developing a multidisciplinary team.
• Ensuring safe, effective and person-centred care is consistently delivered.
• Managing referrals, admissions and occupancy, developing strong relationships with commissioners, local authorities, NHS services, hospitals and other professional networks.
• Assessing new referrals and contributing to admission decisions, ensuring residents' needs can be safely and appropriately supported.
• Balancing occupancy and commercial requirements with clinical suitability, safeguarding, resident compatibility and quality of care.
• Leading on regulatory compliance, clinical governance, safeguarding and CQC requirements.
• Building effective relationships with residents, families and external healthcare and social care professionals.
• Working collaboratively with GPs, mental health teams, social workers, community services and other professionals to provide a coordinated approach to resident care.
• Managing staffing, budgets and resources effectively.
• Driving continuous improvement across the home and maintaining a culture of dignity, respect and inclusion.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

• Proven experience managing a nursing or residential care home.
• Strong experience working with dementia, complex care and/or mental health needs.
• Experience managing referrals, admissions and occupancy.
• Strong knowledge of CQC regulations, safeguarding and clinical governance.
• Experience working with NHS services, local authorities, commissioners and other external stakeholders.
• Strong clinical judgement and the ability to assess whether prospective residents' needs can be safely supported.
• Excellent leadership, communication and relationship-building skills.
• Commercial awareness and an understanding of occupancy, staffing and resource management.
• NVQ Level 5 in Health & Social Care or equivalent.

The service is based in South East London, with good access across Bromley, Sidcup, Bexley, Eltham, Greenwich and Dartford.

The location would suit candidates travelling from South East London and North Kent, including Bromley, Bexleyheath, Welling, Eltham, Greenwich, Sidcup, Chislehurst, Orpington, Dartford, Gravesend and the surrounding areas.

The service is also accessible from wider parts of South East London, Kent and the surrounding Home Counties.
