Compass Associates are exclusively supporting the appointment of a Home Manager for a large, established 75-bed care home in Bexleyheath, providing nursing, residential and dementia care.

The home supports residents with a range of care needs across a sizeable three-floor service and requires an experienced leader who can provide strong, visible and consistent management.

The successful Home Manager will take overall responsibility for the quality, operational performance, culture and commercial performance of the home, working closely with the management team and wider workforce to strengthen standards and drive continued improvement.

This is an opportunity for an experienced Home Manager to take ownership of an established service, develop the team and make a meaningful impact across the home while being supported by an established national care provider.

The Role

As Home Manager, you will be responsible for leading the home across all areas of its operation, including:

  • Providing strong, visible leadership across the service.
  • Leading, developing and motivating the management team and wider workforce.
  • Driving high standards of person-centred care and resident experience.
  • Ensuring robust governance, compliance and quality assurance.
  • Maintaining strong CQC and regulatory standards.
  • Leading recruitment, retention and workforce development.
  • Managing performance and creating a culture of accountability.
  • Supporting occupancy and the commercial performance of the home.
  • Managing budgets and ensuring resources are used effectively.
  • Building strong relationships with residents, relatives and families.
  • Developing effective relationships with healthcare professionals, regulators and external stakeholders.
  • Using data and operational insight to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Leading change and ensuring improvements are embedded sustainably.
About You

You will be an experienced and credible Home Manager with a proven track record of leading a sizeable care service.

You will ideally have a background within nursing, residential or dementia care, alongside experience improving standards, developing teams and delivering positive outcomes.

You will be a confident and visible leader who can balance strategic oversight with strong operational grip, while remaining closely engaged with the day-to-day running of the home.

You will ideally have:

  • Previous experience as a Home Manager or equivalent senior operational leader.
  • Experience managing a large care home or complex service.
  • Strong knowledge of nursing, residential and/or dementia care.
  • A strong understanding of CQC, governance and quality assurance.
  • Proven experience leading and developing large teams.
  • Experience of change management and service improvement.
  • Strong commercial awareness, including occupancy and budget management.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Confidence using data to inform decision-making.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to influence and engage effectively at all levels.

A nursing qualification is preferred, although candidates from a strong non-clinical management background may be considered where they can demonstrate the required level of operational and leadership experience.

We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate a strong CQC history, previous turnaround or improvement experience, and evidence of successfully developing teams and improving service performance.
