Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is recruiting an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support secondary schools across Wirral, Wirral, with immediate opportunities available.

The HLTA will lead learning, deliver interventions, support students with SEND, and cover lessons where needed in a busy secondary setting. A strong DBS and ability to work independently are essential.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or HLTA.
• HLTA qualification or relevant experience.
• Confidence leading learning and working independently.
• Strong communication and classroom management skills.
• A patient, proactive, and adaptable approach.
• A genuine passion for supporting young people.
• A valid enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply for one).

Responsibilities

• Lead learning activities and interventions with individuals and small groups.
• Support teachers with the delivery of engaging lessons.
• Provide classroom cover where required.
• Support students with SEND, behavioural, and additional learning needs.
• Monitor and encourage student progress and engagement.
• Build positive and trusting relationships with students.
• Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams.
• Promote positive behaviour and maintain a safe, inclusive learning environment.

Do you have the confidence to lead learning, support students, and take on additional classroom responsibilities? Tradewind Recruitment are recruiting experienced HLTAs to support secondary schools across the Wirral, with immediate opportunities available.

About the Role

We are seeking confident and experienced HLTAs to work across secondary school settings, supporting students with their learning, development, and wellbeing. You'll work closely with teaching staff to deliver learning activities, lead interventions, support students with additional needs, and provide classroom cover where required.

Key Responsibilities

What We're Looking For

Desirable (but not essential)

• Previous secondary school experience
• Experience supporting students with SEND, SEMH, or behavioural needs
• Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification
• Experience providing lesson cover
