Job summary

Just Teachers Ltd is partnering with a thriving Shipley school to recruit a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to start September 2026. This full-time, temporary role offers potential for a permanent contract for the right candidate.

The HLTA will support learning across year groups, deliver planned interventions, and lead lessons in the class teacher's absence, while maintaining high standards of safeguarding and inclusive practice.

Qualifications

• HLTA status or equivalent qualifications and experience.
• Experience in a primary or secondary school setting.
• Strong classroom management and ability to lead whole-class learning.
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils’ learning across the school.
• Deliver pre-planned lessons and manage whole-class learning in absence of teacher.
• Plan and implement targeted interventions with teaching staff.
• Provide individual and small-group support and monitor pupil progress.
• Support extracurricular activities where appropriate.

About the role:

Justteachers is working in partnership with a supportive and thriving school in Shipley that is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team from September 2026.

This is a full-time position that will initially be offered on a temporary basis, with the opportunity to secure a permanent contract for the right candidate. The school is looking for a confident HLTA who can support teaching and learning across a range of year groups, deliver planned interventions, and lead lessons in the absence of the class teacher when required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support pupils’ learning and development across the school.
• Deliver pre-planned lessons and manage whole-class learning in the teacher’s absence.
• Work closely with teaching staff to plan and implement targeted interventions.
• Provide individual and small group support to pupils who require additional assistance.
• Monitor, assess, and report on pupil progress.
• Help maintain a positive, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.
• Support pupils with varying learning needs and abilities.
• Contribute to the wider life of the school and support extracurricular activities where appropriate.

Pre-requisites:

• HLTA status or relevant qualifications and experience equivalent to the role.
• Previous experience working within a primary or secondary school setting.
• Strong classroom management skills and confidence leading whole-class learning.
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
• Experience supporting pupils with SEND would be advantageous.
• A proactive, flexible, and positive attitude towards supporting children and young people.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
