Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking an enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) for a long-term position in the PR25 area starting September 2026. This role offers opportunities to gain experience for aspiring Early Career Teachers and to extend a successful placement.

The HLTA will deliver planned lessons in the absence of the class teacher and support learning across year groups while promoting a positive learning environment and high standards of pupil attainment.

Qualifications

• HLTA qualification or equivalent experience.
• Previous experience working within a primary school setting.
• Strong behaviour management and classroom leadership skills.
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Deliver planned lessons and learning activities in the absence of the class teacher.
• Support teaching and learning across a range of year groups.
• Work with individual pupils and small groups to raise attainment.
• Assist with planning, preparation, and assessment activities.
• Promote positive behaviour and create an engaging learning environment.
• Support pupils with varying learning needs to achieve their full potential.

It is also an excellent opportunity for an Early Career Teacher (ECT) who would like to gain additional classroom experience, develop their teaching skills, and build confidence before securing a permanent teaching position.
