Job summary

Penryn Primary Academy is seeking a highly motivated Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our Area Resource Base (ARB). This permanent position (30 hours/week, term time plus 2 INSET days) offers an opportunity to support pupils with diverse needs and work closely with teachers and external professionals.

The HLTA will lead learning in ARB when required, cover PPA time with quality activities, and contribute to a calm, inclusive learning environment. DBS and safeguarding checks apply.

Qualifications

• HLTA status or equivalent experience.
• Experience supporting pupils with SEND, ideally in ARB or specialist setting.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Confidence to lead a class independently when required.
• Flexible, resilient and solution-focused.

Responsibilities

• Lead learning and manage ARB classes and groups in the absence of the teacher.
• Cover Planning, Preparation and Assessment time (PPA) with high-quality activities.
• Support pupils with additional and complex needs to access the curriculum.
• Collaborate with teaching staff to plan, deliver and evaluate learning opportunities.
• Maintain high expectations for behaviour and progress.
• Create a calm, supportive learning environment and contribute to interventions.
• Support implementation of individual education plans and targeted interventions.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, parents, carers and professionals.
