Job summary

Gold Education Recruitment is currently recruiting for an experienced and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to work within a welcoming primary school in Braintree, Essex. The successful candidate will deliver pre-planned lessons, provide classroom cover, and support children across Key Stage 1 and 2.

You will lead small group interventions, help manage behaviour, and work closely with teachers to support pupils’ progress.

Qualifications

• HLTA qualification or substantial HLTA-level experience
• UK primary school experience
• Confident delivering pre-planned lessons and managing a classroom independently
• Strong understanding of KS1 and KS2 curricula
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and parents
• Organised, reliable, adaptable and enthusiastic
• Happy to support both classroom teaching and wraparound care
• Understanding safeguarding and child protection responsibilities

Responsibilities

• Deliver pre-planned lessons and provide classroom cover in the absence of the class teacher.
• Support teaching and learning across the primary age range.
• Lead small group interventions and provide support to individual pupils.
• Manage classroom behaviour and maintain a positive learning environment.
• Work closely with teachers and school staff to support pupils' progress and development.
• Support children during after-school wraparound care provision.
• Help organise and supervise engaging, age-appropriate activities.
• Ensure pupils are safe, happy and appropriately supported throughout the school day.
