Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Salary: £120 - £150 per day

Do you have practical skills in joinery, carpentry, brickwork, plastering, motor vehicle studies or another vocational area?

Are you confident building positive relationships with young people who may have previously struggled to engage with education?

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a specialist school in Stoke-on-Trent supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health / SEMH needs. The school provides a calm, supportive and nurturing environment where pupils are encouraged to build confidence, develop practical skills and experience success through meaningful learning.

The school is looking to appoint a Vocational Teacher on a full-time basis with an ASAP start. The role is open to qualified teachers, unqualified teachers and experienced HLTAs with relevant practical skills, with the successful candidate delivering engaging vocational learning and supporting pupils' personal development and wellbeing.

The successful Vocational Teacher will have:

• Practical skills or experience in one or more vocational areas, including joinery, carpentry, brickwork, plastering or motor vehicle studies
• Experience working with children or young people, particularly those who have struggled to engage with education
• The ability to deliver practical, hands-on and accessible learning
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Resilience and the ability to maintain a calm and supportive approach within an SEMH setting
• A positive, adaptable and ambitious approach to supporting young people
