St Stephen's Catholic Primary School and Nursery is seeking an enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our caring community. This fixed-term maternity cover role covers a range of classes from Reception to Year 6 and requires HLTA status or QTS, with strong communication and teamwork skills.

Job description

• Fixed Term Maternity Cover until September 2027 (or the return of the post holder, whichever is soonest)
• 22 hours - 2 full days and 2 half days, term time only
• Salary NJC Grade SO1, Scale Points 23 to 25, £35,570 to £37,562 per annum
• Actual Salary £17,746 to £18,740 per annum
• Required: October 2026

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our friendly and supportive primary school. The successful candidate will be passionate about helping children thrive, confident in leading learning, and committed to making a positive difference to the lives of our pupils. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside a talented team in a caring and inclusive school where every child is encouraged to achieve their best.

The position is suitable for qualified HLTAs and candidates who have qualified teaching status.

The role will involve covering a range of classes between Reception and Year 6.

We are looking for a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant who:

• Supports the Catholic/Christian ethos of the school.
• Is a talented primary practitioner with high expectations and standards, who will be committed to the progress of all children.
• Has experience of working with children with special educational needs.
• Is able to use their initiative and work flexibly supported by a strong team.
• Is an excellent communicator, able to liaise successfully with children, colleagues and parents.
• Will be committed to attending staff and moderation meetings across the Trust, after school.
