Job summary

Rhos Primary School in Wales is seeking a Temporary Level 4 HLTA to support learning across the school. The post is 2 days per week (12.5 hours) over a 39-week year, starting 1 September 2026, and is temporary until 31 August 2027, subject to safeguarding checks.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a school setting.
  • Organised, flexible and proactive.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • NVQ Level 4 or equivalent in childcare.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, deliver and evaluate learning activities across classes.
  • Support pupils’ learning for individuals, small groups and whole classes.
  • Promote inclusive practice and ensure learners are engaged.
  • Work with teachers to create a positive learning environment.
  • Use effective behaviour management to support wellbeing.
  • Reflect on practice and contribute to CPD.
  • Build relationships with pupils, staff, parents and the wider school community.
  • Attend weekly after school staff meetings (ADDS).
  • Demonstrate professionalism and safeguarding.

Temporary Level 4 Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

Temporary until 31st August 2027.

The Governors of Rhos Primary School wish to appoint a responsible, reliable person for the post of Teaching Assistant. The post will require the successful applicant to plan and deliver to classes across the school.

The successful candidate will:

  • Demonstrate the ability to plan, deliver and evaluate learning activities in line with the Teaching Assistant Standards in Wales.
  • Support pupils’ learning effectively, including individuals, small groups and whole classes.
  • Promote inclusive practice, ensuring all learners are engaged, supported and challenged.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other staff to create a positive learning environment.
  • Use effective behaviour management strategies to support pupils’ wellbeing and engagement.
  • Reflect on their own practice and contribute to continuous professional development.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, parents and the wider school community.
  • Attend and contribute to weekly after school staff meetings (ADDS)
  • Demonstrate professionalism, reliability and a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has relevant qualifications and/or experience in a school setting.
  • Is organised, flexible and proactive.
  • Has strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Is committed to supporting learners to achieve their full potential.
  • Must be qualified to NVQ Level 4 or equivalent in a related childcare discipline.
