Job summary

Aspire People are recruiting a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join an inclusive primary school in North Manchester, supporting pupils within a specialist Inclusion Base.

This role requires an experienced HLTA confident to take responsibility for a provision and work closely with a lead teacher to create engaging learning opportunities for pupils with additional needs.

Qualifications

• HLTA qualification or equivalent higher-level education.
• Experience in a primary school setting.
• Experience supporting pupils with SEND.
• Experience with autism or specialist provision would be beneficial.
• Confident leading other staff and taking responsibility for a provision.
• Calm, nurturing and consistent approach.

Responsibilities

• Take day-to-day responsibility for the Inclusion Base.
• Lead and support the team working within the provision.
• Plan and deliver engaging sessions for a small group of pupils.
• Support pupils with SEND and communication needs.
• Help pupils develop confidence, engagement and independence.
• Support phonics, reading and wider curriculum activities.
• Adapt learning and activities to meet individual pupil needs.
• Monitor and celebrate pupil progress.
• Support positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
• Work closely with the lead teacher, SENCO and wider school team.
• Help develop the learning environment and resources.

Aspire People are recruiting a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join an inclusive primary school in North Manchester, supporting pupils within a specialist Inclusion Base.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced HLTA who is confident taking responsibility for a provision and working closely with a lead teacher to create engaging learning opportunities for pupils with additional needs.

The Role:

• Taking day-to-day responsibility for the Inclusion Base
• Leading and supporting the team working within the provision
• Planning and delivering engaging sessions for a small group of pupils
• Supporting pupils with SEND and communication needs
• Helping pupils develop confidence, engagement and independence
• Supporting phonics, reading and wider curriculum activities
• Adapting learning and activities to meet individual pupil needs
• Monitoring and celebrating pupil progress
• Supporting positive behaviour and emotional regulation
• Working closely with the lead teacher, SENCO and wider school team
• Helping develop the learning environment and resources

The Ideal Candidate:

• Holds an HLTA qualification or equivalent higher-level education qualification
• Experienced working within a primary school setting
• Experience supporting pupils with SEND is highly desirable
• Experience with autism, communication needs or specialist provision would be beneficial
• Confident leading other staff and taking responsibility for a provision
• Strong understanding of child development and learning
• Calm, nurturing and consistent approach
• Able to use initiative and work independently

ECTs or suitably qualified education professionals with an equivalent level of qualification and the right experience may also be considered.

The Opportunity:

• 37.5 hours per week
• Term-time only
• Long-term position through Aspire People
• Potential for a permanent contract after 12 weeks for the right candidate, subject to both the school and candidate being happy with the placement
