Job summary

Vetro Recruitment is seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) in Wirral, Merseyside to support pupils in a welcoming primary school environment. The role involves hands-on, pupil-focused support to raise outcomes, promote inclusion, and build confidence in learning throughout the school day.

You will work closely with teaching staff to maintain routines, deliver targeted support, and adapt resources to meet diverse needs, including SEND.

Qualifications

• HLTA Status or equivalent advanced classroom support experience with evidence of leading learning activities
• Proven experience supporting children in a school or education setting (including interventions and/or class cover)
• Enhanced DBS Check and Right to Work in the UK (safeguarding-first approach)

Responsibilities

• Deliver structured learning support, including 1:1 and small-group interventions, helping pupils meet individual learning targets
• Provide planned and short-notice class cover, maintaining consistent routines, behaviour expectations, and a safe learning environment
• Support lesson preparation by adapting resources and activities to meet a range of needs, including SEND where appropriate
• Observe and record progress, contribute to assessment evidence, and feedback to teachers for next steps
• Promote independence, positive engagement, and social development so pupils can participate fully in school life
• Uphold safeguarding at all times and work collaboratively with staff to support pupil wellbeing
